Jiangsu TV

The site itself is a lengthy rectangular shape, opposite of a public park.

Our aim was to go away from the generic approach in China to just place a box in the center of the site, and instead 'anchor' the building with a distinctive shape.

We further add two cuts in the volume, one on the southern end and one in the center, which will than fold down and create two slopes. The outside one will cradle the hotel, and provide outdoor hiking space that leads up to the top of the building, where artificial hills shelter the technical boxes of the cinema inside.

The Jiangsu TV entertainment mall is more of an experience center than a traditional mall. It is aimed at offering various activities, to serve as a magnet for guests from further away, but also house conventional mall functions, to be attractive to its immediate surroundings.

For that reason a wide array of facilities are to be housed under one roof:

          - hotel

          - indoor skying

          - cinema

          - food court

          - waterpark

          - indoor climbing

All other functions orientate themselves around this shard, as the floors react to the cut and make way for the open areas, on the backside of the volume the different attractions push into the snowworld and offer SPA, and climbing opportunities alike.

The second slope on the interior will be wrapped in glass and serves as the indoor skying hill. It cuts through the different floors like a shard, and is the center that gives orientation and attraction at the same time.
