In 2011 the documenta center competition was announced. It was meant to find alternatives to the current container-solution for the visitor center featuring reception, giftshop, press center and restaurant.

In analysis of the city, my competition partner Milena Sobanski and I found, that Kassel virtually becomes the documenta during that time. So we tried to not create one building, but rather a series of stepping stones, scattered thoughout town.

Shape and construction reflect on the character of temporary architecture and play with the overlap of building and sculpture: during the day each pavillion presents itself as a transformed 'house' - completely in white, it appears very massive. At night, the pavillions transform, light on the inside make the construction - metal scaffolding - appear as shadows on the now glowing volumes. Projections and colored light allow the transormation - if want - to be even stronger.
